Where in the wash process is car snow foam applied?
Snow Foam for cars is typically applied after Citrus Pre-Wash has removed the majority of dirt.
Its thick, clinging foam helps further loosen and soften any remaining grime that the pre-wash didn’t reach, making the wash stage even safer.
Snow Foam car shampoo can also be used on its own for maintenance washes where dirt levels are light-medium or preserving the longevity of waxes or sealants is key with its gentle pH neutral formula.
How To Use Snow Foam
- Before cleaning ensure the vehicle is cool to the touch then dilute at 1 part product to 10 parts water. For more economical cleaning you can dilute up to 1:20 (Use our dilution calculator if you’re unsure)
- Apply the car foam wash to the vehicle ensuring the entire surface is covered for maximum efficiency. We recommend using the IK Foam Pump Sprayer for this stage.
- Leave to dwell for a few minutes although do not allow to dry
- Completely rinse off ensuring no residue is left behind

What does snow foam actually do?
Snow foam is a powerful pre-wash cleaner that delivers a thick, foamy layer over your vehicle when applied through a snowfoam lance.
This foam works by encapsulating and loosening dirt from the paintwork, pulling it to the surface ready to be rinsed away.
Snow foam should be used before the main wash, by doing this you eliminate the bulk of dirt without touching the vehicle, reducing the risk of scratches during the contact wash with a mitt and shampoo.
It’s an essential step for ensuring a safer, more effective clean.
Will Snowfoam remove any sealants or waxes from my vehicle?

Do I need a lance/snow foam cannon to use snow foam?

How often should I use snowfoam?
Snowfoam should be used every time you plan to perform a contact wash on your vehicle, typically every 1-2 weeks or whenever your vehicle needs cleaning.
By applying snowfoam, you significantly reduce the risk of scratches and swirls when washing by lifting and removing the bulk of dirt before the contact wash stage.
This ensures a safer, more effective cleaning process for your paintwork.
Can I use snowfoam on my wheels?
Absolutely! Snowfoam can be used on your wheels as well. For enhanced cleaning, you can layer our snowfoam over the alloy cleaner.
This helps encapsulate, lift, and remove dirt more effectively while allowing the alloy cleaner to dwell longer, delivering an even deeper clean.
Do I need to agitate snowfoam?
No need to agitate snowfoam with a brush or wash mitt, as it’s designed to work with zero contact.
Simply let it dwell on the surface to loosen up dirt, and then rinse off with a pressure washer for a thorough, contact free clean before moving on to the wash stage.
What is the difference between snowfoam and car shampoo?
Snowfoam is an essential pre-wash treatment, expertly designed to loosen and remove dirt from your vehicle’s paintwork before the main wash. Simply spray it on, let it dwell, and rinse off no scrubbing necessary.
(This pre-wash step helps minimise the risk of dragging dirt across your paintwork with a wash mitt, reducing the chance of scratches during the contact wash.)
Shampoo, on the other hand, requires gentle agitation with a wash mitt. Start from the top of the vehicle and work your way down, ensuring all dirt is removed and leaving behind a gleaming, glossy finish.
How long to let snow foam sit?
For optimal results, Snow Foam should be left to dwell on the vehicle for 5-10 minutes. However, it’s crucial to avoid letting the product dry on the surface, as this could cause damage.
Additionally, always ensure the vehicle is cool to the touch before applying Snowfoam never apply it to a hot surface to ensure safe and effective cleaning.
Do you rinse snow foam off?
Yes, snow foam should always be rinsed off as it is designed as a pre-wash product, not a contact wash solution.
Its sole purpose is to encapsulate dirt and lift it to the surface and then rinsed off, preparing the vehicle for safe washing.
Using a wash mitt to contact wash while snow foam is still on the car can lead to scratches, defeating the very purpose of snow foam.
By rinsing it thoroughly, you ensure a cleaner, safer surface for the next steps in your detailing routine.
Do you wet the car before snow foam?
It’s important to avoid pre rinsing your car before applying snow foam.
Doing so dilutes the snow foam as soon as it makes contact with the surface, reducing its effectiveness.
Additionally, pre-rinsing creates an unnecessary layer of water that hinders the snow foam from properly bonding to the paintwork, making it less efficient at lifting away grime.
For optimal results, always apply snow foam directly to a dry vehicle
How to snow foam without a pressure washer?

Just simply an amazing product, combine with fresh chameleons citrus pre wash it's a winning combination, compared to other companies their snow foam it lushly thick and sticks to the car for a really long time. Overall an amazing product better then alot of the leading brands in my opinion.

Let it snow! This does exactly as it says, simply add what they recommend on the bottle to water and spray away. Leaves the car covered in a thick blanket of white foamy snow. Does an amazing job at preparing the car for a deep clean with the jellybean shampoo+.
great snow foam, really helps to soften and pull the dirt out and even just with a wash afterwards gives a fantastic finish. I would also recommend the ceramic foam afterwards as it helps make future washes a lot easier.

Does a fantastic job! I use it quite foamy! But even using it the highest recommended amount it will last a while and create a super thick foam to use as a main cleanser with a mitt! After using autoglym for years, I'm so impressed with the range of products here!

Was absolutely blown away by how thick this snow foam was. Genuinely was not ready for how thick it was going to be. But the most impressive thing for me was its cling time and its cleaning ability.
All the time it spent on the car was not to waste, as it effortlessly broke down the road grime, salt and the heavier contaminants like mud flick up on the backs of the arches and rubber debris too.
It really made for an excellently smooth contact wash… Couldn’t be happier!

The quality for this price 👌👌 I've used this on 5 cars already and honestly I cannot fault this product. Gives you enough time to tackle hard to reach areas with your detailing brush without disappearing off the car. Provides a nice thick layer of snowfoam (depending on quality of foam lance) and overall is a perfect product to use for pre wash. 10/10 buy it before they increase their prices 😉😉
Honestly, this was the first time I used any of the fresh chameleon products and I was astounded by the extreme snow foam. Quite literally covered the car in a bed of white and was very easy and simple to use

Snowiest snow foam I have used on my car to date! I had recently gotten a vinyl wrap sticker on my car and this stuff made it shine really well and cause no issues, discolouration or peeling!

Great snow foam, you can either have a nice thick show foam or a perfect foam for detailing.
Great coverage and brilliantly effective. We use a fairly high end canon but it even does a great job with a bog standard one. I never use anything else.
Nice dilution ratio makes for a cheap clean but works so good defiantly up there in terms of quality with the big boys.
Ultra thick foam removes dirt with no problem definitely will be purchasing this over the one I used to use
