Can I use this alloy wheel cleaner on black wheels?

Yes, our Alloy Wheel Cleaner is safe for use on gloss black wheels. The non-acidic, alkaline formula is gentle enough to clean effectively without stripping or dulling the finish.

As with any wheel finish, we always recommend testing on a small inconspicuous area first.

For best results on black wheels, rinse thoroughly after use and follow up with our Plastic & Tyre Shine on the tyre sidewall to restore that deep, dark finish alongside clean alloys.

Is this alloy wheel cleaner safe on diamond cut wheels?

Yes, our Alloy Wheel Cleaner is safe for use on factory-finished diamond cut wheels.

Because it's non-acidic, it won't attack the lacquer that protects the machined surface the way an acid-based cleaner would.

That said, diamond cut wheels are more vulnerable than standard alloys — the lacquer layer is thinner and any chips or damage to the finish can allow moisture and chemicals to get underneath.

Before use, inspect the wheel carefully for any chips, peeling or damaged areas. Always test on a small inconspicuous area first and rinse thoroughly after use.

If your diamond cut wheels have been refurbished or resprayed, check with the repairer before using any chemical cleaner on them.

Do you dilute wheel cleaner?

Alloy cleaner can be diluted at the following ratios: 1 part product to 3 parts water for heavy soiling, 1:5 for medium soiling and 1:9 for light soiling. 1 litre of product can create up to 10 litres of ready to use product.

You can view our product dilution ratio calculator here

What types of wheels can Alloy Cleaner be used on?

Alloy Cleaner is suitable for standard manufacturer finished clear coated wheels.

Always perform a spot test on a discreet area to ensure compatibility before full use.

What is an alkaline alloy wheel cleaner?

An alkaline wheel cleaner is a powerful cleaning solution designed to remove dirt, brake dust, grime, and other contaminants from vehicle wheels.

Unlike acidic cleaners, which can be harsher, alkaline cleaners are gentler on surfaces while still offering effective cleaning power.

They work by breaking down tough deposits without damaging the wheel’s finish, making them safe for regular use on manufacturer finished alloy wheels and other compatible surfaces.

Do I need to agitate alloy cleaner

Yes for optimal results, we would recommend agitating the alloy cleaner with a soft clean brush to lift any embedded dirt.

Once you’ve thoroughly worked the cleaner into the surface, simply rinse it off.
